Franklin & Seidelmann Secures Second "Cloud" Radiology Florida
Client
CLEVELAND, OH—October 20, 2009—Franklin & Seidelmann (F&S), a
leading, national full-service radiology interpretations provider today
announced that they have secured a second contract for providing
radiology services on a 100% remote basis to a Florida acute care
community hospital. DeSoto Memorial Hospital has recently engaged F&S
(www.franklin-seidelmann.com) to exclusively provide all of its
radiology professional interpretations through the highly regarded
Franklin & Seidelmann network of specialized radiologists, even though
none will be located at the DeSoto, FL facility. This contract is in
addition to Doctors' Memorial Hospital of Perry, FL which went live with
F&S services earlier this summer.
"Through our combination of unique business processes and advanced
proprietary technology, we are uniquely able to route studies from these
community hospitals to the specialized F&S radiologist anywhere in the
U.S. best suited to read those patient images from a particular scanning
modality and body part," stated Clayton Larsen, Sr. Vice President of
Marketing for F&S. "Not only does this provide better clinical quality
for the referring physician," noted Larsen, "but it also effectively
reduces the total costs to the hospitals during this time of national
shortages of radiologists."
F&S believes that this new model of 100% remote radiology services
delivery—described as "Cloud" Radiology—will be a fast growing
method for hospital administrations to solve the physician staffing
issues for these in-demand radiology specialists. It will provide their
local medical staff the diagnostic accuracy they need for the large
percentage of their patients who undergo imaging procedures as the
starting point in their progression of care.
"We have a highly selective recruiting process to get the best
radiologists with regards to training and experience, but, in addition,
we provide them with large numbers of cases in their specialties, more
so than if they were even at a large university hospital setting,"
stated F&S CEO and President Scott Seidelmann. "It is this aggregation
of specific cases that gives our radiologists a sharper edge in their
interpretation accuracy. The Cloud Radiology model is ideal for a number
of institutions in every region across the country," added Seidelmann,
"and, for those hospitals that serve as regional centers of excellence,
we have the proven ability to recruit, license, credential and relocate
radiologists if the in-department presence is a necessity."
In a Cloud environment, even though the F&S radiologist is not in the
reading room, they provide consistent, on-time reports and are available
for consultations with physicians 24 hours a day. "With the advent of
our digital images now being available to referring physicians, they
often no longer walk down to the radiology department for a consult
anyway," said Bill Brynes, Chief Financial Officer of Doctors' Memorial.
"So the fact that the radiologist may be 1,000 miles away is
inconsequential to the delivery of great patient care. They would prefer
to have the best radiologist giving them guidance, not the most
convenient radiologist."
